Backboard & Accessories
We use a backboard (A), which is a hard plastic board about 6 feet long, whenever we suspect that a patient may have an injury to their spine. A car accident, fall, or other traumatic incident are indications for using a backboard.In addition to the backboard, every patient is fitted with a disposable neck collar (D) and head/neck stabilizer (B), and is secured to the backboard using seatbelt straps (C). The picture below shows how this setup would be used on a patient.
