Bag-Valve-Mask-Reservoir
When a patient is not breathing, then personnel must breathe for the patient. This requires the use of a piece of equipment specially designed for the task. The Bag-Valve-Mask-Reservoir (BVMR) connects to an oxygen tank to supply 100% oxygen to the patient. The mask is placed over the patient’s mouth and nose and personnel squeeze the large bag to force air into the patient’s lungs.
The Bag-Valve-Mask-Reservoir is a very effective way to provide oxygen to a patient who cannot breathe for themselves.
